La Lanterna Magica hosts audiovisual heritage film screenings

The L’Aquila Cinematic Institute “La Lanterna Magica” ETS is organizing a special film series for local schools to observe World Audiovisual Heritage Day on October 27. The initiative aims to introduce younger generations to the importance of preserving and valuing audiovisual heritage.

Established by UNESCO in 2005, the observance highlights the cultural, historical, and social significance of moving images as vital records of collective memory. The program features three selected works tailored to different age groups to encourage student curiosity and awareness of audiovisual language.

Film restorer Martina Orlando will provide historical, artistic, and technical analysis regarding film preservation. The event will be accessible via streaming on YouTube to foster a dialogue between cinema, memory, and the youth.
