La Libertad agro-industry focuses on private investment and circular economy

In the La Libertad region of Peru, initiatives are underway to bolster private investment and promote circular economy practices within the agro-industrial sector. ProInversión recently held a workshop to present mechanisms and services designed to facilitate the expansion of private investments, specifically targeting agro-industry, manufacturing, and industrial infrastructure.

The workshop highlighted opportunities in processing plants, cold chains, precision agriculture, and renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. This comes as La Libertad remains a significant economic driver, accounting for 8.1% of Peru's total exports with US$7.381 billion recorded in 2025.

Complementing these investment efforts, the “Circular Foods” initiative, led by CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic under the Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP), aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) transform food waste into new commercial products. The program focuses on revaluing residues from crops like avocado, blueberry, asparagus, and passion fruit through technological innovation. Additionally, the program will provide an artificial intelligence platform to assist businesses with market trends and commercial decision-making.
