La Libertad Avanza prepares key legislative session in Argentina

The ruling La Libertad Avanza party is preparing a key legislative session in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies scheduled for August 26. The administration aims to advance several central initiatives, including reforms to the Fiscal Innocence Law, changes to the Central Bank's Organic Charter, a free trade agreement between Mercosur and Singapore, and a patent cooperation treaty with the United States.

A significant component of the agenda is a proposal to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on cassava products by 50%. The Budget and Finance Commission has already issued a favorable report on this initiative, which unifies two separate projects. The expanded scope of the approved text includes not only cassava starch but also cassava flour and various processed food products derived from the raw material. This measure is intended to support regional economies, particularly in Misiones, and benefit celiac consumers.
