La Libertad pharmacy robbery leads to three suspects in custody

Three individuals are facing preventive detention following a robbery at a pharmacy in central La Libertad, Santa Elena. The incident, which occurred on August 10, 2026, was captured on security cameras.

Police intercepted the suspects during an attempted escape on a motorcycle. During the arrest, authorities recovered a .38 caliber revolver with live ammunition, $140 in cash, and various medical supplies and equipment.

The commercial manager of the pharmacy chain reported that their establishments have been targeted in thirty-three separate robberies, resulting in losses exceeding $44,000. The manager also noted that previous incidents included threats to staff and an instance of sexual assault against a worker.
