La Línea hosts European Seawater Rowing and Beach Sprint Championships

The European Seawater Rowing and Beach Sprint Championships have commenced in La Línea de la Concepción, Spain, featuring approximately 1,200 athletes from 31 countries. The event includes the beach sprint discipline, which is set to debut in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic program.

Local athletes have achieved significant success during the opening days. Abel Salas and Alfredo Mena of Club Remo de Mar La Línea secured the bronze medal in the European club championships for the men's double over 6,000 meters. Additionally, Alfredo Mena won the European U-19 beach sprint title in mixed double alongside Blanca López.

Other notable Spanish performances include Salvador Díaz winning bronze in the men's single, and a silver medal in the mixed double for Díaz and Marta de las Heras. The competition continues with club-level endurance events involving 176 crews from 18 countries.
