La maleta: New Spanish action-comedy film premieres

The Spanish action-comedy film ‘La maleta’, directed by Carlos Therón, has been presented in Valencia. The film follows a young woman named Laura, played by Lucía Caraballo, who accidentally picks up the wrong suitcase at the airport after a chance encounter with a Mexican man, played by Alejandro Speitzer.

The plot escalates into a frantic chase through Madrid when it is discovered that the misplaced luggage contains materials for a terrorist attack. The story blends elements of adventure, suspense, romance, and screwball comedy, featuring a cast that includes Leonor Watling, David Lorente, and Víctor Clavijo.

Director Carlos Therón noted that while making people laugh is difficult, this film offers interesting readings by combining modern dating app culture with high-stakes action and suspense. The production was originally conceived as a series before being developed into a feature film.
