La Massana to build scenic viewpoint at Alt de la Capa

The parish of La Massana has officially presented a project to construct a new scenic viewpoint at Alt de la Capa, located at an altitude of 2,572 meters in the Pal Arinsal area. With an estimated investment of approximately 837,000 euros, the project aims to create a landmark that integrates nature tourism, culture, and astronomy.

Designed by architect Antoni Riberaygua and engineer Carles Puig, the structure will feature a conical, amphitheater-style design composed of thirteen concentric rings made of Corten steel. This material was selected to ensure the structure blends chromatically with the surrounding rocky environment. The concave shape is intended to provide a 360-degree panoramic view while acting as a wind shelter for visitors.

In collaboration with the Starlight project, the site will serve as a destination for astronomical observations due to its low light pollution. The experience will include an 800-meter thematic path leading up to the summit to educate visitors on the local heritage and landscape. Construction is expected to begin before the winter season, with a goal to open to the public by next summer.
