La Matanza provides free ophthalmology services to retirees

In La Matanza, Argentina, a municipal ophthalmology assistance program is providing free medical consultations, eye exams, surgeries, and eyeglasses to retirees. The initiative aims to detect common age-related pathologies, such as cataracts, and provide necessary medical follow-ups or surgical interventions.

More than 20,000 retirees across various localities in the district have already received near, far, or bifocal lenses through operations held at local senior centers. Mayor Fernando Espinoza stated that the measure seeks to protect visual health, promote active aging, and provide economic relief to seniors during difficult financial times.
