La Matanza: Retiree shot in the back during attempted robbery

A 72-year-old retired merchant was shot in the back during an attempted robbery in Tapiales, La Matanza. The victim, identified as Pedro, was unloading groceries from his car when two individuals on a motorcycle approached him. As he attempted to flee, a passenger on the motorcycle fired a shot that struck his right shoulder blade.

The victim was rushed to Los Cedros clinic, where he underwent surgery. Medical reports indicate the bullet stopped approximately one centimeter from his spinal cord but did not damage vital organs. The suspects fled the scene without obtaining the vehicle or any belongings.

Prosecutor Luciano Borda has classified the case as attempted aggravated homicide involving a firearm. Authorities are currently reviewing local surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators and determine if they are linked to other criminal activities in the area.
