La Mouche dam to undergo 5.4 million euro repairs

New infrastructure projects have been announced for the La Mouche dam in Saint-Ciergues. Voies navigables de France must undertake work to waterproof the dam's crest to meet regulatory safety requirements and allow the lake to be operated at its maximum level.

In conjunction with the dam repairs, the Departmental Council will widen the road crossing the dam to accommodate agricultural machinery and secure pedestrian crossings. The total cost of the works is estimated at 5.4 million euros, with the Departmental Council contributing approximately 791,361 euros. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027 and is expected to last one year, requiring significant traffic detours.
