La Palma authorities authorize new housing in Puerto Naos
The La Palma Island Emergency Plan (Peinpal) has authorized a new residence located on the Rosana Simón promenade in Puerto Naos. This decision follows carbon dioxide (CO2) measurements confirming the property meets necessary safety conditions for use.
With this addition, the total number of authorized facilities in the Puerto Naos and La Bombilla areas has risen to 1,253. Currently, Puerto Naos accounts for 1,185 authorized installations, while La Bombilla has 68.
President of the La Palma Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, stated that the authorization results from individualized monitoring and established safety protocols. Technical teams continue to evaluate pending properties to identify spaces that can be recovered and determine necessary actions for areas still showing high gas concentrations.
To ensure safety, a surveillance system consisting of 1,600 sensors and 220 outdoor meters is being used to monitor CO2 levels. Firefighters have also been conducting checks on buildings and supervising sensor functionality in restricted zones.
