La Palma Health Center launches free addiction services in Ica

The La Palma Health Center in Ica has launched a new specialized service to provide free assistance to individuals with suspected or existing alcohol and drug addictions. Part of the Orientation, Counseling, and Brief Intervention Service (SOCIB) implemented by the Regional Health Directorate, the program began operating approximately 15 days ago.

Through personalized attention and screening, patients are classified into three risk levels: mild, moderate, or high. Mild and moderate cases are treated directly at the health center. Individuals identified with high-complexity cases are referred to specialized mental health facilities or the Ica Regional Hospital for continued treatment.

To remove barriers to access, both consultations and the opening of medical records are free of charge. The center's location near the University City is considered strategic for reaching students and other residents in the area.
