La Palma healthcare services face potential collapse, unions warn
Labor unions SEPCA and USAE have warned that healthcare services in La Palma are on the verge of collapse. The organizations cited an “asphyxiating” hiring policy and interventionism by the Canary Health Service (SCS) as primary causes for the crisis.
According to the unions, the lack of planning and hiring freezes have critically impacted essential services. In specialized care, a reduction in the hiring of Nursing Assistant Technicians (TCAE) has led to the suspension of consultations at the La Palma University Hospital. Furthermore, uncertainty regarding the renewal of approximately one hundred staff members and the status of upcoming employee vacations is creating significant labor instability.
