La Palma launches mental health campaign for 420 students
The Cabildo de La Palma has concluded the “Salud mental a través de mis ojos” (Mental health through my eyes) campaign, which provided emotional education and mental health prevention training to 420 students. Participating students, in their first and second years of compulsory secondary education, attended sessions at four institutes: IES Alonso Pérez Díaz, IES Villa de Mazo, IES José María Pérez Pulido, and IES Puntagorda.
Developed through the CUIDAR-T program of the Social Action Department, the initiative focused on recognizing emotions, personal well-being, and the importance of seeking help. The campaign also featured a photography contest where students used images to express concepts such as friendship, tranquility, and overcoming difficulties.
Ángeles Fernández, the Counselor of Social Action, emphasized that the program aims to bring mental health care closer to young people through early prevention and education in classrooms.
