La Palma: Man dies in Villa de Mazo house fire

A man died during a house fire in the municipality of Villa de Mazo on the island of La Palma. The incident occurred during the evening of Thursday.

Initial evidence gathered by the Instituto Armado suggests the fire may have been intentional. Investigators are currently working under the hypothesis that the deceased individual may have started the fire himself in a suspected case of voluntary death. The Judicial Police team of the Guardia Civil in Santa Cruz de La Palma has taken over the investigation.

Emergency responders, including firefighters from La Palma, local police from Mazo, and environmental units, attended the scene. Firefighters were credited with preventing the flames from spreading to nearby vegetation and other homes.
