La Palma monitors IMPaCT Cohort epidemiological study

Health authorities in La Palma are reviewing the progress of the IMPaCT Cohort, a major epidemiological research initiative focused on primary care and precision medicine. The study is part of the IMPaCT Predictive Medicine Program and aims to understand how various factors influence long-term health.

In the Canary Islands, three research nodes have been established in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma. The La Palma node, based at the Los Llanos Health Center and CAE, covers several areas including Los Llanos de Aridane, Santa Cruz de La Palma, and El Paso. The project intends to randomly select 4,000 participants over a twenty-year period. As of September, 570 people have participated, with women representing 57.19% of the current group.
