La Pampa and Buenos Aires extend security cooperation agreement

Governors Sergio Ziliotto of La Pampa and Axel Kicillof of Buenos Aires have agreed to extend their security cooperation agreement for an additional 24 months. This extension continues a collaborative framework that has been in place since June 2024.

The renewed agreement aims to strengthen coordination in border regions and rural areas through technical assistance, joint operations, and specialized training. Key components of the partnership include the use of advanced technology, such as long-range drones equipped with thermal imaging and night vision systems, to monitor for smuggling, poaching, and cattle rustling.

Beyond field operations, the provinces are prioritizing the professionalization of security forces. This includes academic exchanges and training facilitated through the Juan Vucetich Provincial Police University Institute. Previous joint efforts have already involved coordinated patrols and aerial surveillance in areas such as Catriló and Pellegrini.
