La Pampa extends forest burning season until September 15

The General Directorate of Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Natural Resources have decided to extend the authorized forest and scrubland burning season in La Pampa until September 15. This decision follows environmental studies conducted on current conditions.

The extension applies to producers who submitted and obtained authorization from Civil Defense before the August 14 deadline. Regulations for grassland burning remain unchanged: the deadline to submit applications is August 31, and the maximum date to conduct authorized burns is September 15.

Authorities emphasized that an approved permit does not allow for unilateral burning. Each procedure requires operational authorization from Civil Defense, and neighbors and the nearest police station must be notified. Burns must be conducted under specific environmental conditions regarding temperature, humidity, and wind. The professional responsible for the burn is held co-responsible, and their signature serves as a sworn statement.
