La Pampa launches climate resilience training for cultural heritage staff

The Cooperativa Popular de Electricidad (CPE), the Universidad Nacional de La Pampa (UNLPam), and the La Pampa Secretariat of Culture have launched a free training program titled ‘Patrimonio en Alerta: resiliencia climática, gestión de riesgos y Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible en Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos’.

Led by museology specialist Julio Melián, the virtual course will take place every Wednesday throughout November. The initiative aims to equip professionals in libraries, archives, and museums with tools to identify and mitigate risks posed by extreme weather phenomena, specifically focusing on the impacts of El Niño on cultural assets such as paper, textiles, and digital archives.

The program includes modules on climate change, preventive conservation, and alignment with the 2030 Agenda. Registration is open until November 3 via the CPE Community platform, with participation limited to 30 individuals.
