La Pampa officials debate foot-and-mouth disease vaccination deregulation
Authorities in La Pampa and representatives from the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) have met to discuss the implications of Resolution 201/26, which deregulates the foot-and-mouth disease vaccination system across Argentina.
The new regulation, set to take effect for the first campaign on February 15, 2027, will allow accredited private veterinarians to administer vaccines. Previously, this task was managed exclusively by sanitary foundations and health entities.
Producers and the 24 sanitary foundations coordinating vaccination in La Pampa have expressed significant concern regarding the change. They warn that allowing private veterinarians to intervene could fragment the sanitary control system and the vaccine sales structure, potentially undermining a collective health management system that has been established over many years.
