La Pampa officials face legislative inquiry over adoption procedures

Officials from the Ministry of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family in La Pampa appeared before a provincial legislative investigative commission to address inquiries regarding adoption procedures. The inquiry follows a specific case involving a baby from Rancul, who was placed with a support family before being granted to another family through adoption.

Subsecretary Juan Pablo Bonino led the delegation, defending the work of technical teams and stating that all actions are governed by current laws to protect the rights of children and adolescents. However, the session was marked by procedural tension when legislators requested individual interviews with technical professionals.

Government officials declined these individual interviews, arguing that permanent staff members cannot be directly interrogated by a parliamentary commission due to their professional dependency and oversight by the Administrative Investigations Prosecutor's Office. In response to this stance, members of the investigative commission expressed dissatisfaction, claiming the decision hindered the investigation's progress.
