La Pausa: Coco Chanel’s historic French Riviera estate

La Pausa, the historic estate of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel located in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the French Riviera, serves as a significant site of creative inspiration. Originally purchased in 1928, the property features landscapes rich with jasmine, iris, and lavender—scents that mirror the ingredients of Chanel n°5.

After being repurchased by Chanel in 2015, the estate underwent restoration led by architect Peter Marino. The project aimed to return the domain to its 1930s splendor, honoring the original vision of the estate as a private refuge and a space for artistic inspiration.
