La Paz announces 2027 Carnival poetry contest

The La Paz City Council, through its Carnival Committee, has launched the official call for entries for the 'Juegos Florales del Carnaval La Paz 2027' poetry competition. Under the theme 'La Fiesta del Futuro,' the contest aims to promote literary creation and recognize poetic talent in the region.

Participation is open to poets born in Baja California Sur or those with at least three years of verifiable residency in the state. Contestants must submit an unpublished poem collection of a free theme, with a length of between 20 and 40 pages in digital PDF format. To ensure transparency and anonymity during the judging process, works must not contain personal data or illustrations.

The winning author will receive a single prize of 30,000 pesos and a natural flower. Submissions must be sent via email by the deadline of Friday, December 4, 2026. The committee specified that works previously published, texts generated by artificial intelligence, or works that have won other contests are ineligible for participation.
