La Paz driver attempts suicide amid fuel shortages and debt
A 53-year-old salaried driver attempted suicide in the El Tejar area of La Paz, Bolivia, reportedly due to extreme economic and emotional distress. According to René Tambo, head of the Homicide Division of the FELCC, the man was struggling to meet a monthly debt of approximately 4,000 bolivianos.
The driver’s ability to earn income was severely hindered by long queues at fuel stations. The time spent waiting for gasoline significantly reduced his working hours, making it impossible to generate the necessary funds to cover his financial obligations. Police are currently investigating the incident.
