La Paz Governor Luis Revilla calls for debate on vehicle regularization law

Luis Revilla, the Governor of La Paz, has requested that the Plurinational Legislative Assembly consult with departmental governments before approving a proposed law for the extraordinary, one-time regularization of undocumented vehicles in Bolivia.

Revilla emphasized the necessity of distinguishing between vehicles that were stolen and those that are currently circulating without documentation but have no criminal record. He argued that any new regulation must not facilitate the entry of new illegal or stolen vehicles into the country, but rather address the existing fleet of undocumented motor vehicles.

The Governor specifically cited the northern region of La Paz, where dozens of vehicles are reportedly circulating without license plates or documentation. He has called for a joint discussion involving the governments of La Paz, Oruro, and Cochabamba to evaluate the impact of the measure on urban circulation and the automotive fleet.
