La Paz Governor proposes freezing high-level salaries

La Paz Governor Luis Revilla has proposed a new regulation to freeze salary increases for high-ranking departmental authorities, including his own position. This move comes in response to public criticism regarding the 2027 Annual Operating Program (POA), which currently includes a 15% salary increase for all levels.

Revilla intends to present this proposal to the Departmental Legislative Assembly to ensure that the planned 15% increase is redirected toward technical and professional staff starting in January 2027. The Governor argued that improving wages for specialized personnel is necessary to attract and retain talent, noting that current pay scales for technical roles in the La Paz Government are significantly lower than those in central government ministries.

Revilla stated that any future salary increases for top officials should be subject to management performance evaluations.
