La Paz launches new direct flight route to Monterrey

A new direct air route has been launched connecting La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, with the industrial center of Monterrey, Nuevo León. The commercial operation is a strategic alliance between the Secretariat of Tourism and Economy of Baja California Sur (SETUE), Viva Aerobus, and Mexicana de Aviación.

This new connection is part of a six-route national package designed to strengthen Mexico's aerial transport network and meet high travel demand during peak seasons. The direct flights aim to reduce travel times by eliminating the need for mandatory layovers at Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

Authorities expect the route to increase seat capacity to the region, boosting hotel occupancy and economic activity in local sectors including gastronomy, transport, and nautical services. The expansion also helps decentralize flight traffic from the Los Cabos corridor by establishing La Paz as a strategic entry point in the peninsula.
