La Paz municipality renews six Playa Platino beach certifications, adds Punta Lobos

The municipal government of La Paz, Baja California Sur, officially renewed six Playa Platino certifications for its coastal beaches, incorporating Punta Lobos in the Todos Santos delegation. The certified sites now include Balandra 1, Balandra 2, El Coromuel, El Saltito, El Saltito Original and Punta Lobos. Acting mayor Amor Fenech Montaño highlighted the program’s role in protecting marine ecosystems and supporting sustainable tourism, stressing that beach stewardship requires coordinated effort among government, residents and visitors.

The municipality also announced a budget of more than 8 million pesos for the ZOFEMAT La Paz office to upgrade its operational capacity, including the purchase of eight specialized vehicles for coastal cleaning, surveillance and transport of work crews. ZOFEMAT director Roberto Higuera Fernández thanked federal and state agencies for their collaboration in maintaining the high environmental standards required for the certifications.
