La Paz to Host Highest‑Altitude ATP Challenger Tournament

The Club de Tenis La Paz (CTLP) will stage the Challenger 50 La Paz Open from 6 to 13 December, offering a prize pool of US$63,000. At an elevation of 3,232 metres, the event will be the world’s highest‑altitude ATP Challenger, giving Bolivia a second Challenger tournament alongside the Bolivia Open in Santa Cruz.

Tournament director Rafael Ortiz announced that the ATP approved the event to boost the country’s tennis profile. Federation president Luis Benítez and Vice‑Minister of Sports Roberto Bustamante attended the launch, highlighting expected benefits for local players, tourism, the economy and youth inspiration.

The tournament aims to provide Bolivian players the chance to compete at home against international opponents and to showcase La Paz as a capable host of high‑level sport events.
