La Piedad authorities capture suspect Joaquín N for 2017 homicide

A man identified as Joaquín “N” was arrested in La Piedad, Michoacán, after years on the run. The operation was carried out by the Fiscalía de Michoacán in coordination with the Guardia Civil and the municipal police.

Joaquín “N” is accused of the July 24, 2017 killing of a cyclist who was traveling between Agua Caliente and La Palma. According to investigators, the victim was intercepted near the El Espinal site, taken to the former train station of Zapotera de Tunillas, and attacked with a knife, resulting in death.

Following the apprehension, the suspect was taken to the Centro Penitenciario de La Piedad and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities for further proceedings.
