La Piedad currency exchange employees charged with embezzlement

Two former employees of a currency exchange business in La Piedad, Michoacán, have been formally charged with abuse of trust following the embezzlement of over 878,000 pesos (approximately $22,850 USD).

The suspects, identified as José Raymundo “N” and Andrés Eduardo “N”, held roles as a cashier and an accounting manager, respectively. Investigations by the Michoacán State Attorney General's Office reveal that between October and November 2025, the pair allegedly manipulated financial records and reused previously processed checks by altering beneficiary data to misappropriate funds.

The irregularities were discovered during an internal audit of email communications and data entry systems on November 14 and 15. A judge has linked both individuals to the legal process and granted a three-month period for the completion of supplementary investigations.
