La Plata announces Teatro del Lago restoration and school infrastructure updates

The Municipality of La Plata has announced it will award the contract for the restoration of the Teatro del Lago this week. Following a bidding process in August involving ten companies, the project is expected to cost over $10 billion and take 18 months to complete. Funded by the provincial government through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services and the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires, the work will include the integral restoration of the main building, access portals, and interior spaces while respecting the original design. Improvements will also feature stage technology, a lakeside cafe, a site museum, and enhanced accessibility.

In a separate infrastructure initiative, Mayor Julio Alak inspected renovation works at Kindergarten No. 5 in Altos de San Lorenzo. This project is part of the ‘Escuelas en Obra’ program, a joint effort between the Municipality and the provincial government that has reached 220 educational spaces. The renovations include electrical, sanitary, and water system upgrades, as well as repairs to walls, windows, and foundations to address humidity issues.
