Motorsport updates: WRC Rally Paraguay begins and regional racing intensifies

The 2026 WRC Rally Paraguay has officially commenced in Itapuá. Following a shakedown where Takamoto Katsuta recorded the fastest time, the first stage began in Cambyretá. This edition marks a sustainability milestone as the first WRC rally in Latin America to offset its carbon footprint through local credits.

In Argentina, the Turismo Nacional championship continues with its eighth round at the Oberá circuit in Misiones. The event features 58 drivers across Class 2 and Class 3, including several representatives from Santa Cruz such as Sebastián Gómez and Thiago Martínez. Notably, 2025 Class 3 champion Julián Santero has announced a strategic move to Ambrogio Racing to improve his Volkswagen Virtus's performance.

In the GT Challenge of the Americas, Costa Rican driver Gustavo Ortega enters the second stage of the season as the leader of the GTS category. He will be joined in Barbados by veteran Danny Formal as the nation seeks to consolidate its standing in the championship.
