La Plata councilwoman seeks clarity on Educational Assistance Fund

Councilwoman Rosana Zamora has filed a formal request for information regarding the use of the Educational Assistance Fund (FAE) in La Plata. Zamora reported significant discrepancies between monthly reports and the annual balance for 2025.

According to Zamora, while approximately $345 million was budgeted for the FAE in 2025, monthly reports submitted to the Council only accounted for roughly $31 million. Despite this, the Executive branch's annual report claimed an execution rate of 100.06%. Zamora is seeking documentation to clarify the destination of the remaining $310 million, noting that while the funds might have been used for direct school improvements like water tanks or maintenance, the lack of detailed reporting requires justification.

The inquiry also extends to the 2026 budget, which allocated approximately $570 million for the FAE, with mid-year records showing an execution of over $200 million.
