La Plata honors Sor María Ludovica as Illustrious Citizen

The city of La Plata has officially declared Sor María Ludovica an Illustrious Citizen post mortem, honoring her historical contributions to children's health and her commitment to vulnerable populations. The recognition was led by Mayor Julio Alak and Archbishop Gustavo Carrara during a ceremony at the Centro Municipal de las Artes.

To mark the anniversary of her birth, the community organized a pilgrimage and a mass. The procession began at the Hospital de Niños, which bears her name, and traveled to Plaza Moreno before concluding with a mass at the La Plata Cathedral presided over by Archbishop Carrara. The event was organized by the Archdiocese and the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, with municipal support.

In addition to the posthumous honor for Sor María Ludovica, Sister Floripes Josefa de Oliveira Reis, Mother General of the Congregation, and Sister Francesca Petrone, Vicar General, were recognized as Illustrious Visitors.
