La Plata launches bidding process for gastronomic and tourism concessions
La Plata Mayor Julio Alak has introduced a bidding process for the concession and revitalization of gastronomic spaces in several strategic and historical locations throughout the city. The initiative aims to boost the local tourism offering, stimulate the economy, and improve service quality in high-traffic areas.
The plan targets several prominent sites, including the confectioneries in Plaza Malvinas, the Bus Terminal, the Municipal Ecological Park, the Republic of the Children, and stalls in the Paseo del Bosque. This move is part of a broader urban recovery effort involving the restoration of public spaces and heritage sites.
Under Ordinance No. 12.693 of 2025, the Municipal Tourism Entity (EMATUR) has been granted expanded powers to manage municipal spaces and issue permits or concessions for commercial gastronomic activities in tourist areas. This follows previous revitalization projects in locations such as the Pasaje Dardo Rocha Arts Center and the Coliseo Podestá Municipal Theater.
