La Plata parish targeted by two robberies in one week

The Nuestra Señora de Caacupé y San Roque González parish in Villa Elvira, La Plata, has been targeted by two robberies within a single week. During the first incident, criminals breached the temple by breaking through a wall. They also attempted to enter the residence of priest Juan José Olivetto, though they were unsuccessful in gaining access to the home.

In a second attack occurring days later, thieves removed an iron gate to enter the halls used by Cáritas. The perpetrators stole food supplies intended for local residents receiving assistance, as well as a sound system that had been donated to the community four months prior. Community members described the sound equipment as “a fundamental tool for celebration.”

In response to the insecurity and the distress caused by these events, the parish community is organizing a fair titled “Cultivando Raíces” on Sunday, September 13. The event aims to raise funds for the purchase and installation of security cameras to prevent more serious incidents.
