La Plata region records 92 suicides in 2025

Suicide has emerged as the leading cause of violent death in the Greater La Plata region during 2025. A total of 92 deaths were recorded across La Plata, Berisso, and Ensenada, a figure consistent with the previous year.

Demographic data indicates that young men and adults are the most affected groups. Of the victims, 72 were men, 16 were women, and one was a trans person. The most frequent age group for these incidents was between 19 and 40 years old, accounting for 47 cases.

Geographically, La Plata recorded the highest number with 60 cases, followed by Berisso with 25, and Ensenada with seven. Notably, the number of cases in Berisso nearly doubled compared to the 13 recorded in the previous year. On average, the region experienced 7.6 suicides per month, surpassing both road accidents and intentional homicides in the area.
