La Plata region sees 42% increase in homicides

Homicide rates in the La Plata judicial department have shown a notable increase as of September 20, 2026. Data indicates that 20 homicides were recorded in La Plata and Berisso combined during this period, compared to 14 during the same timeframe in 2025, representing a 42.86 percent increase.

While the broader judicial department, which includes districts such as Ensenada, Cañuelas, and San Vicente, has seen a historical downward trend in homicides from 63 in 2022 to 36 in 2025, the urban area closest to the provincial capital is currently experiencing an upward trend.
