La Plata residents face water shortages and turbid supply

Residents in northern La Plata, Argentina, are facing severe water service disruptions, transitioning from receiving brown, turbid water to experiencing total supply cuts. The issues are primarily affecting the areas of Villa Elisa, Villa Castells, Gonnet, and Tolosa.

In Villa Elisa, residents reported being without water for four days due to a reported broken pump. While the water company, ABSA, acknowledged the equipment failure and low pressure, they have been unable to provide an estimated time for repairs or alternative water supplies.

In Villa Castells and Gonnet, users have documented brown-colored water flowing from their taps. Some residents suggest that power outages from Edelap may have affected a pumping station, causing sediment to be dragged through the pipes. Beyond the lack of clean water, residents expressed frustration over receiving payment notices and the impending cost of cleaning their tanks and pipes once the service normalizes.
