Villa Devoto femicide: Walter Verón arrested after killing wife Romina Calvo

In the Villa Devoto neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Romina María de los Ángeles Calvo was killed by her husband, Walter Humberto Verón. The attack, which occurred in their family home, was witnessed by their eight-year-old daughter, who alerted her 21-year-old brother to call emergency services.

Verón reportedly left a handwritten letter at the scene in which he confessed to the crime and attempted to shift blame. In the note, he accused Verónica Asad, a numerologist known as Pitty La Numeróloga, of altering the victim's personality. Asad, who had previously provided Romina with employment opportunities through her business franchises, denied these claims, stating that the focus should remain on the perpetrator's actions.

Authorities arrested Verón approximately 200 meters from the residence. He was found with a wound to his neck and was hospitalized in serious condition. The investigation, led by Judge Darío Bonanno, has characterized the incident as femicide and attempted suicide. The couple's three children are receiving psychological support.
