La Plata trial begins for Felicitas Alvite in fatal motorcycle collision
The trial of Felicitas Alvite, known as “La Toretto,” commenced in La Plata, Argentina, regarding the death of 36-year-old motorcyclist Walter Armand. The incident occurred in April 2024 when Armand was struck by a vehicle driven by Alvite during what prosecutors allege was a high-speed street race.
Alvite faces charges of simple homicide with eventual intent, a legal classification that carries a potential prison sentence of between eight and 25 years. Her defense maintains that the incident should be classified as involuntary manslaughter. Valentina Velázquez, a friend of Alvite, is also on trial for her alleged participation in the street race preceding the collision.
During the initial hearing, Alvite requested to testify, expressing emotional distress and apologizing to the victim's family. She stated, “I would be incapable of harming someone,” and addressed her public persona, noting that her reputation had been shaped by social media videos. The trial is expected to continue through November 6, with approximately 100 witnesses scheduled to testify.
