The French telecommunications landscape shows significant activity in infrastructure and consumer offerings as of late 2026. According to the DegroupTest barometer, Orange leads in fiber optic performance with an average download speed of 825 Mb/s, followed by Bouygues Telecom at 783 Mb/s, Free at 703 Mb/s, and SFR at 518 Mb/s.

Regarding mobile infrastructure, the ANFR reports that France has reached 56,169 authorized 5G sites, with 50,182 currently operational. Bouygues Telecom recorded the highest growth in new 5G site authorizations during August, ahead of Orange, SFR, and Free Mobile.

In the consumer market, several operators are introducing diverse mobile plans. NRJ Mobile has launched a 5G plan marketed as “unlimited” with a 500 GB threshold before speed reductions. La Poste Mobile is offering a promotion where various no-commitment plans, ranging from 50 GB to 350 GB, are free for the first four months. Other market movements include Free’s low-cost 1 GB data option and various hardware promotions, such as SFR’s discounted Samsung Galaxy A37 5G bundles.
