La Poste reduces hours and closes offices in Gardonne and Rodez
The municipality of Gardonne in southwestern France is contesting a plan to cut the weekly opening time of its local post office from 26 to 15 hours starting in October. Mayor Pascal Delteil says the reduction follows the loss of the office’s public‑finance authorization in March and threatens service for vulnerable residents. The town has launched a petition to keep the current schedule.
In central Rodez, the La Poste branch on place du Maréchal‑Foch will be closed from 3 August to 26 September 2026 for renovation work. Customers are being redirected to two nearby offices – Rodez Bourran on avenue Jean Monnet and Onet‑le‑Château on place des artistes – for mail, parcel and banking services. La Poste says the works aim to modernise the premises and install new automatic tools.
