La Rambleta hosts ‘Cucaracha’ starring Hiba Abouk

The theater venue La Rambleta in Valencia will host the play ‘Cucaracha’ on October 3 and 4. Written by Scottish playwright Sam Holcroft and directed by Julián Fuentes Reta, the production marks the theatrical return of actress Hiba Abouk.

The story is set in a classroom where a biology teacher, played by Abouk, attempts to maintain a sense of normalcy through lessons and exams. However, the setting is overshadowed by a devastating, prolonged conflict referred to as ‘the Just War.’ As the play progresses, male students receive notifications to join the military, causing the boundaries of education and the loss of innocence to collide with the realities of structural violence and war.
