La Rinconada to host 2027 Vuelta a Andalucía opening time trial

The 2027 Vuelta a Andalucía will begin in La Rinconada with a 12-kilometer individual time trial on February 17. This marks the return of the race to the municipality after thirty years.

Organizers announced the inaugural stage during the La Rinconada Sports Gala. The course will be held entirely within the municipality, starting and ending at the El Abrazo multifunctional center in La Unión. The route is described as very flat and designed for high speeds, with officials anticipating average speeds exceeding 70 kilometers per hour.

Joaquín Cuevas, president of the Andalusian Cycling Federation and race director, noted that the event aims to attract top-tier cyclists. While no specific riders have been confirmed, Cuevas mentioned Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel as a potential participant.
