La Rioja Food Bank launches XIV Gran Recogida campaign
The Banco de Alimentos de La Rioja has announced the XIV Gran Recogida de Alimentos, scheduled for November 13, 14, and 15. The campaign aims to mobilize community solidarity to ensure food access for those in need.
Supported by national football coach Luis de la Fuente, the initiative involves 66 participating establishments across the region. Of these, 55 will accept both food and monetary donations, 10 will accept only money, and one will accept only food products. Monetary donations are used to purchase food directly from the participating establishments for distribution to beneficiaries.
The campaign requires approximately 1,000 volunteers to staff collection points and assist customers, but currently faces a shortage of 466 people. Specific volunteer needs include 149 in Rioja Alta, 162 in Rioja Media, and 155 in Rioja Baja.
