La Rioja health officials plan regularization for 1,000 precarious workers
The Government of La Rioja is conducting a survey to regularize the employment status of more than 1,000 healthcare workers currently operating under precarious contracts or scholarships. Romina Cuello, coordinator of the Provincial Health Plan, stated that the initiative aims to fill vacancies left by resignations, deaths, and retirements rather than expanding the total state workforce.
The process specifically focuses on personnel hired during 2020 and 2021. The goal is to transition these workers to permanent staff positions to ensure stability within the public health system.
In a related development, the State Workers Association (ATE) met with Health Minister Juan Carlos Vergara to demand the regularization of staff, particularly those in Chilecito. ATE submitted lists of affected workers to the ministry, seeking equitable and transparent labor solutions for those who have maintained essential services since the pandemic.
