La Romana doctor injured during hospital emergency room incident

A 20-year-old man, identified as Ángel Ariel Montás, was referred to the Public Ministry following a violent incident at a hospital emergency area in La Romana.

According to a preliminary report from the National Police, Montás exhibited violent behavior in the triage area. During the altercation, he reportedly pushed an emergency door with such force that the glass shattered. Shards of glass struck a female doctor working in the area, causing her an injury.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the medical professional or the specific severity of her wounds. Montás was detained and transferred to the Eastern Regional Directorate of the National Police. The Public Ministry is currently investigating the circumstances to determine legal responsibilities.
