La Romana Mayor addresses municipal waste transfer station controversy

La Romana Mayor Eduardo Kery Metivier addressed the ongoing controversy regarding the municipal solid waste transfer station currently operating at the municipal workshop. During a press conference, Metivier denied allegations that he supports allowing other municipalities in the La Romana province to dump waste at this specific location.

Metivier also categorically denied receiving bribes to maintain the current transfer station, which has caused concerns in local sectors such as Villa Verde and San Carlos. To resolve the issue, the mayor stated that officials are working to secure a plot of land in an isolated area, far from residential sectors, to serve as a new provincial transfer point. He emphasized that the transition must follow legal procedures and maintain transparency.
